Stop Smoking Now
Why You Should Quit
You probably know the reasons already:
- Smoking (and smokeless tobacco) cause cancer. Smoking can lead to high blood pressure, asthma and heart disease. It can also make diabetes and other health problems worse.
- Smoking causes health problems for everyone around you, especially children.
- If you smoke while you’re pregnant, you risk your baby being born too small or too early. Your baby also has a bigger risk for SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome).
- Smoking takes away from your ability to taste and smell. Food doesn’t taste the same.
- It’s not pretty. Smoking causes wrinkles, stains your teeth and gives you bad breath.
- And it’s not cheap. If you have a pack-a-day habit, you’ll see more than $2,000 a year go up in smoke!
How We Can Help
You are 2 to 3 times more likely to quit smoking successfully with the help of medications or a quit coach (counseling). Health Partners offers coverage for both quit smoking medications and counseling provided by your PCP. We want to help you quit!
See the medications listed in the chart below to find out what is offered by Health Partners with a prescription from your doctor. For more information or questions, call Member Relations anytime at 1-800-553-0784 (TTY 1-877-454-8477).
REMEMBER, people often try to quit several times before they succeed. Just because you have tried before doesn’t mean that it’s not time to try again.
