| The Flu & You |
In the 2009-2010 flu season, there are two flu bugs to avoid. In addition to the “seasonal” flu that shows up every year, there is H1N1 (formerly called “swine” flu). |
| |
| Stop the Spread |
You can help reduce the spread of both forms of the flu. Just remember these simple tips:
|
- Cough/sneeze into a tissue (and trash it) or use your sleeve.
- Wash your hands often with warm water and soap.
- If you or your children are sick, stay home.
|
| Get a Flu Shot |
The best way to avoid the flu is by getting flu shots. There are vaccines for seasonal and H1N1 flu. Health Partners covers both. Check with your doctor soon about the shot(s) you should have.
Getting flu shots is extra important for:
|
- Children 6 months through 18 years old
- Young adults 19-24 (H1N1)
- Pregnant women
- Adults 50 and older (seasonal)
- People with chronic medical problems
- People who live with or take care of infants under 6 months old, or of people at high risk for flu complications
